Intro

Making furniture from newspaper, painting flea markets finds, crafting earrings from crown corks: For quite some time now, things that can be built, repared or made beautiful without professional help have been back in style. The Museum für Sächsische Volkskunst in Dresden, as the only “do-it-yourself” museum in Germany, is in touch with this development.

Upcoming Events

The Museum

Enchanting carved objects from the Ore Mountains and embroidered woven textiles from Lusatia, lavish Sorb costumes and intricate lace from the Vogtland region, painted furniture, richly decorated ceramics and an unusually diverse collection of historic toys. Every year at the Jägerhof

Easter

Here in the Jägerhof, suitably decked out with Easter decorations, true artists demonstrate what wonderful things can be done with eggs. Traditional techniques and the latest highly skilled forms of decoration are presented and also sold. In addition, there is a weekend programme with readings, music and talks.

Christmas

Every year on the first Advent, the Jägerhof turns itself into an atmospheric backdrop of pre-Christmas expectations. Many Christmas trees that were magnificently decorated by friends present the latest and most unusual decorating ideas. Every day folk artists show their traditional and modern crafts.
